The ugly Christmas sweater has gone from embarrassing gift to the star of the holiday season. Office parties, family photos, and friendly competitions all run on festive knitwear. Personalized sweaters with names, faces, and inside jokes take it one step further.
Step 1: Pick your theme
- Family matching: the same design with a different name on each sweater. Ideal for Christmas card photos.
- Grandparents’ pride: designs like This Grandma Belongs To list every grandchild.
- Funny face sweaters: put someone’s face on a festive design with the Custom Face Christmas Sweater. It’s perfect for a gentle roast.
- Dog lovers: the Custom Photo Dog Mom Sweater puts the family pet front and center.

Step 2: Personalize it
- Choose the size first.
- Click “Personalize” and enter names or upload a photo.
- Check the live preview and the spelling of every name.
For face designs, use a clear, front-facing photo with good light. More tips are in our personalization guide.
Step 3: Get the size right
Our sweaters come in unisex sizes. Check the size chart on each product page and measure a sweatshirt you already own. If you’re between sizes, size up for layering or down for a closer fit. Ordering for the whole family? Collect everyone’s sizes before you check out, because personalized items can’t be exchanged for a different size after production starts.
Step 4: Plan the party
- Award categories: Ugliest, Most Creative, Best Family Match, Best Pet Appearance.
- Photo corner: a simple backdrop with string lights and a custom family-name banner.
- Game: “Whose face is this?” works brilliantly with custom face sweaters.
- Gift exchange: set a budget, for example our gifts under $25.
Step 5: Care for your sweater
To keep the print looking its best, wash it inside out in cold water on a gentle cycle and tumble dry low or hang dry. Don’t iron directly over the print.
Order early
Sweaters are printed to order. Production takes 4–5 business days and shipping takes 7–12 business days. If your party is in mid-December, order by mid-to-late November. Our holiday ordering dates page has the exact recommendations.
